Gurugram, March 1 (NationPress) More than 11.7 lakh voters are scheduled to cast their ballots at 1,109 booths across five municipal regions: Gurugram, Manesar, Pataudi, Sohna, and Farrukhnagar in the Gurugram district this Sunday.
As part of the municipal election framework, votes will be counted on March 12 at locations designated by the Returning Officer for each municipal area.
Voting will take place on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., as confirmed by officials. District Election Officer Ajay Kumar stated that voters will select a Mayor for the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and councillors across 36 wards within the MCG jurisdiction.
The total number of voters in the MCG wards is 9,02,776, comprising 4,75,598 men, 4,27,143 women, and 35 voters identifying as third-gender.
In addition, over 51,000 men and 46,000 women, including 3 transgender individuals, will participate in the election for Mayor and Councillor in 20 wards of the Manesar Municipal Corporation (MMC).
The District Election Officer noted that votes will also be cast for the positions of councillor and chairman in 22 wards within the Municipal Council Pataudi Jatauli Mandi, with over 22,000 men and 20,721 women expected to vote.
In the by-election for the chair of the Sohna Municipal Council, 26,596 men, 23,551 women, and 6 transgender voters will cast their votes across 21 wards.
Meanwhile, in the Municipal Committee Farrukhnagar, 7,683 men, 6,961 women, and 1 transgender individual will participate in voting for the councillor and chairman roles in 16 wards.
DC Ajay Kumar has urged all eligible voters to actively exercise their voting rights. He emphasized the significance of the electoral process, stating that through voting, we can choose responsible representatives.
“This election is vital for establishing a local government in our democracy. For it to be successful, all voters must take advantage of their right to vote, thereby fortifying our democracy. The district administration is fully prepared to ensure a transparent and fair voting process,” he added.
