Gurugram, March 11 (NationPress) The police in Gurugram have detained a suspect for allegedly attempting to murder a woman who declined his marriage proposal, according to law enforcement officials.
The suspect has been identified as Mintu Kumar, a resident of Gaya, Bihar.
On March 3, a police unit from Sector-7 IMT Manesar received a report via the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) team about a woman found injured in the hills of Kasan village.
The ERV team promptly transported the injured woman to a medical facility for urgent care.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the investigation team discovered that the woman was not in a condition to provide a statement.
The police sought assistance from crime scene, fingerprint, and dog squad teams to examine the crime scene.
The following day, March 4, the victim submitted a written account to the police stating that she resides in a rented accommodation in Bhangarola village and is employed at a company in Sector-8, IMT Manesar.
She had formed a friendship with a man named Mintu.
On March 2, she visited a temple in Kasan village alongside her friend and Mintu.
After leaving her friend at the temple, she and Mintu wandered into the hills of Kasan village. There, Mintu proposed marriage, which she declined.
Mintu became enraged, pushed her down, and began to kick and punch her, striking her on the head and face with a stone. Believing she was dead, he fled the scene. She remained on the hillside throughout the night until the police found and admitted her to the hospital on March 3. Following the victim’s complaint, a case was registered under the pertinent sections at the Sector-7 IMT Manesar police station in Gurugram.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the suspect had assaulted the woman after she turned down his marriage proposal and fled, mistakenly thinking she was dead, police reported.
