Gurugram, March 20 (NationPress) The Gurugram administration has issued a directive for the inhabitants of three towers at the Chintels Paradiso condominium in Sector-109 to vacate within 15 days. Failure to comply may result in the enforcement of the Disaster Management Act, officials confirmed.

The Gurugram District Magistrate and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Ajay Kumar, has instructed the implementation of Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, mandating the immediate evacuation of these residential towers.

The enforcement of Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, along with Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, aims to avert threats to human life, health, and safety due to the looming risk to the residents of Towers A, B, and C.

Authorities are empowered by the Disaster Management Act to forcibly remove occupants from these structures.

Upon vacating, residents are required to return their flats to the builder of the housing society, according to the DM's order.

A report from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) has deemed Towers A, B, and C uninhabitable.

Previously, Towers D, E, F, G, J, and H have already been evacuated.

Manish Yadav, the Gurugram District Town Planner (Enforcement), has been designated as the nodal officer and duty magistrate to oversee compliance with the District Magistrate's orders.

The orders stipulate that police assistance may be utilized to enforce compliance.

The issue of compensation for residents and flat owners by the developer is being addressed separately by a Special Investigation Team formed for this purpose.

The builder is instructed to settle all claims from allottees in a timely manner.

Violators of the issued orders will face repercussions under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code 2023 and Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, among other legal provisions.

On February 10, 2022, a partial collapse of six floors in Tower D resulted in the deaths of two residents.

Out of nine towers in the housing society, all have been declared unsafe thus far.

The district administration, following recommendations from IIT Delhi and the CBRI, has categorized these towers as hazardous.

"These towers pose a risk, and any unforeseen incident could occur at any moment. The builder is responsible for the relocation of residents. We must prioritize safety and cannot allow individuals to endanger their lives," stated a senior district administration official, who wished to remain anonymous.
