Gurugram, April 1 (NationPress) In a bid to combat reckless driving, the Gurugram Traffic Police issued a total of 9,078 challans amounting to Rs 1.81 crore during March, according to police reports.
Virender Vij, DCP Traffic, stated that special initiatives were conducted against overspeeding vehicles from March 1 to March 31.
“As part of this special initiative, the Traffic Police Gurugram undertook significant measures against overspeeding. A total of 9,078 challans have been generated for speeding violations, totaling Rs 1.81 crore,” the DCP Traffic remarked.
He emphasized that the objective of the Gurugram Police is to ensure the safety of Gurugram's roads and to mitigate criminal activities.
“To manage over-speeding drivers, dedicated checkpoints are established by the Traffic Police Gurugram during the early hours of Saturdays and Sundays to control speeding vehicles and avert potential incidents,” he added.
He noted that this campaign was initiated with the intention of enforcing rules against traffic law violators, as stated by the police.
“The Gurugram Traffic Police urges the public to adhere to all traffic regulations to ensure safe travels. Such targeted challan campaigns will persist moving forward,” he remarked.
In March, the Gurugram Traffic Police also launched a special initiative aimed at curbing violations of black film regulations, resulting in 754 challans worth Rs 75.40 lakh.
Additionally, the Gurugram Traffic Police issued challans amounting to Rs 68.85 lakh against 1,372 individuals using mobile phones while driving in March.
Moreover, the Traffic Police issued fines totaling Rs 5.32 crore against 53,215 individuals riding without helmets in March. Of these, 33,265 challans worth Rs 3.32 crore were issued against pillion riders.
