Gurugram, May 3 (NationPress) In a significant effort to combat wrong-side driving, the Gurugram Traffic Police have levied fines totaling Rs 99.42 lakh through 19,146 challans against traffic offenders last month, as reported by police on Saturday.
According to traffic police officials, following the directives of Commissioner of Police Gurugram, Vikas Arora, the traffic police took decisive action against individuals driving in the wrong direction.
"To uphold traffic regulations, the Gurugram traffic police imposed fines on 19,146 drivers committing wrong-side driving, particularly in areas like National Highway-48 near Rajiv Chowk, Gurugram-Faridabad Road, CRPF Chowk towards Sheetla Colony, and Gurugram-Sohna Road," stated Rajesh Mohan, DCP (Traffic).
"To effectively address wrong-side driving, Gurugram Police conducted targeted campaigns and routinely checked vehicles at various locations. During these checks, drivers caught driving in the wrong direction were fined under the Motor Vehicle Act," the DCP added.
“The aim of Gurugram Police is to facilitate a smooth and safe journey by managing traffic systematically. To ensure organized traffic flow, actions are enforced against those violating regulations,” remarked the traffic police officials.
Additionally, Gurugram Police regularly initiate special awareness campaigns to educate the public and encourage adherence to traffic rules, informing them about the penalties for violations.
"The Gurugram Traffic Police urges all drivers to comply with traffic regulations to prevent road accidents and ensure safety, thereby maintaining smooth and organized traffic flow," concluded the DCP.
