Haryana CM Emphasizes Commitment to Boost Farmers' Earnings

Chandigarh, Jan 9 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated on Thursday that the state's “double-engine government” is steadfastly focused on the well-being of farmers.
He affirmed, “Our aim is to elevate the income of farmers and ensure their financial prosperity,” emphasizing that 70 percent of the farmers in the state possess minimal land, which calls for a tailored strategy for their enhancement.
The Chief Minister insisted that the forthcoming Budget should encompass provisions aimed at boosting farmers' profits to empower them economically.
While leading a pre-budget consultation meeting at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar, he sought feedback from farmers regarding their development.
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa, and legislator Vinod Bhyana, among others, were in attendance.
During the discussions, the Chief Minister engaged in personal interactions with farmers.
In the initial session, over 52 suggestions were submitted by the farmers. Alongside the farmers, agricultural experts also contributed to the session. The second session involved discussions with farmers linked to Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
Saini remarked that the recommendations made during the discussions would be integrated into the upcoming Budget. He noted that the government is particularly devoted to the welfare of farmers, with a special focus on enhancing their income and fortifying their status. He revealed that agriculture accounts for 18 percent of the state’s GDP and expressed the administration's commitment to implementing measures that would allow small landholding farmers to secure a decent income.
To achieve this, initiatives such as e-mandi and other alternatives are in development.
The Chief Minister encouraged farmers to embrace crop diversification, advising them to shift from conventional farming methods. He stated that diversification could substantially raise farmers' income. He urged farmers to concentrate on the cultivation of coarse grains, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to elevate coarse grains to an international level.
