Rohtak, March 2 (NationPress) The remains of a woman Congress member were discovered in a suitcase in Rohtak, Haryana, igniting a political controversy on Sunday. The victim's family is questioning the potential involvement of a fellow Congress member, while the BJP criticizes the party due to the criminal past of some of its members.

The black suitcase containing the body of Himani Narwal, a 23-year-old law student, was found on Friday near the Sampla bus stand along the Rohtak-Delhi highway, after being noticed by rag-pickers.

Himani’s mother, Savita, who resides in Delhi with her son Jatin, is demanding justice for her daughter, suggesting that intra-party rivalry might have driven the murder.

She indicated that Himani had garnered numerous enemies due to her rapid advancement within the Congress, particularly after joining Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.

“I urge Hooda sahab to assist us in obtaining justice,” she stated, expressing concerns that the perpetrators could be affiliated with the party or familiar to her.

Jatin, the victim’s brother, communicated to IANS that their family will refrain from cremating her until justice is served.

He remarked that the suitcase where the body was discovered belonged to Himani, hinting at possible involvement from someone she knew.

Savita recounted that Himani had left home to catch a bus to Delhi on the evening of February 27 but later informed her that she would be preoccupied with an event hosted by Deepender Hooda Sahab.

However, it appears that Himani was killed before she could attend the event, according to her mother.

After 4 p.m. on Thursday, communication with Himani ceased, Savita noted.

She received a call from the police on Friday afternoon, notifying her of the murder.

A police investigator mentioned, “Scientific evidence is currently being analyzed and an autopsy is underway.”

Amit Malviya, head of BJP’s National Information and Technology Department, remarked on X, “The mother of deceased Haryana Congress worker Himani Narwal indicates that the murder may have been committed by a Congress leader or an associate. The party and the elections have cost her daughter’s life.”

“She noted that her daughter was close to Asha Hooda, Bhupinder Singh Hooda's wife, but now she is unresponsive. After the tandoor incident, we are now facing the suitcase incident – the exploitation and murder of women workers has become synonymous with the Congress,” he added.

The tandoor incident mentioned by Malviya refers to a notorious case from 1995 in Delhi, where a woman, Naina Sahni, was murdered by her husband and Congress leader Sushil Sharma, who attempted to dispose of her body in a tandoor at a five-star hotel to eliminate evidence. He was later convicted.

Anil Vij, Haryana Minister, emphasized that Himani’s murder and the allegations from her family are serious matters. He accused Congress leaders of similar actions in the past, stating, “Undermining others for personal gain is a hallmark of Congress culture. I am confident the culprits will be brought to justice soon.”
