Chandigarh, April 9 (NationPress) Haryana’s Energy Minister Anil Vij announced on Wednesday that a new 800 MW supercritical thermal unit is set to be constructed in Yamunanagar. This facility will utilize advanced technology aimed at minimizing pollution.

After inspecting the site, Vij mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the third 800 MW unit of the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Plant on April 14.

This initiative is expected to significantly boost the state's electricity generation capacity and offer substantial advantages.

The government also plans to develop a similar plant in Khedar and two additional units in Panipat.

These thermal facilities will enhance our power output and lessen our reliance on external energy sources. Vij confirmed that he has thoroughly reviewed all arrangements for PM Modi’s visit.

“I’ve provided various instructions based on my extensive experience attending such rallies over the past 40 years in politics,” he explained.

He conveyed all the essential points that he noted during the review to the officers.

Vij directed the officials to ensure adequate provisions for drinking water, toilets, parking, security, and seating for the public attending the event.

Additionally, he engaged in detailed discussions with officials regarding the Prime Minister's route plan, VIP toilets, media center arrangements, stage seating, and other pertinent matters.

Addressing a question about electricity costs, Vij stated that there has been no tariff increase for consumers using up to 300 units.

“Since 2014, price increases have been 72 percent lower compared to previous trends, with only a 15-20 paise rise, which is minimal,” he added.

When questioned about rising petrol and diesel prices, he assured that the burden of these increases would not be transferred to the public.

Concerning the strike by Haryana Roadways employees, Vij, who also oversees the Transport portfolio, stated: "I consistently address the concerns of employees across all departments under my purview and assist them as much as possible. No issues have been reported from roadways employees to me."
