Chandigarh, April 14 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday dedicated a series of development and infrastructure projects worth Rs 10,000 crore in Haryana, which included the foundation laying for the third thermal unit of 800 MW at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar, amounting to Rs 8,469 crore.
Additionally, he inaugurated a GOBARdhan Plant in Yamunanagar valued at Rs 90 crore and opened the Rewari Bypass, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 1,069 crore.
Among those present at this significant event were Union Minister for Housing Manohar Lal, Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh, Union Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal, alongside state Cabinet Ministers Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Panwar, and Shyam Singh Rana.
The Union Ministry of Power has approved the establishment of the third unit of 800 MW at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant by Haryana Power Generation Corp Ltd (HPGCL).
This initiative expands the existing plant, which currently has operational units of 2×300 MW.
A total of 233 acres will be utilized for constructing the new unit.
The project is expected to be completed within 52 months, with commercial operations anticipated to commence within 48 months by March 2029.
With this addition, Haryana's internal power generation capacity will rise to 3,382 MW.
PM Modi also inaugurated the Rewari bypass, developed under the Bharatmala scheme on Hybrid Annuity Mode at a cost of Rs 1,069 crore.
This four-lane bypass has been built around Rewari city to alleviate traffic congestion.
Stretching 14.4 km, it starts at the NH-352 junction and connects to NH-11 heading towards Narnaul.
This initiative is a crucial advancement in addressing the traffic challenges in Rewari city and improving connectivity to Narnaul.
It will enable more efficient and timely travel for both passengers and freight. The bypass, in conjunction with ring roads and other infrastructural enhancements, will bolster the efficiency of both existing and planned corridors, alleviating traffic flow and cutting down travel duration.
A major advantage of the Rewari bypass is its potential to reduce travel time between Delhi and Narnaul by nearly one hour.
This will not only aid commuters but also expedite the transportation of goods. The foundation stone for the GOBARdhan plant was also laid.
Located in Mukarampur, Yamunanagar, the plant will be established by the Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri in partnership with BPCL, at a cost of Rs 90 crore.
The facility is set to have an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes of compressed biogas (CBG).
The project is on track for completion by May 2027. The CBG plant will utilize agricultural residues, cattle dung, and municipal solid waste to produce biogas.
Each year, approximately 45,000 metric tonnes of solid waste and 36,000 metric tonnes of cattle dung will be processed in a scientific manner.
The CBG produced is a refined version of biogas and serves as a substitute for CNG.
The annual output of 2,600 metric tonnes of CBG is expected to yield significant savings in terms of CNG consumption.
Moreover, the plant will generate about 10,000 metric tonnes of bio-fertilizer each year.
This initiative will contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions by 7,700 metric tonnes annually.
It aims to eliminate the open dumping of waste and the methane emissions caused by landfill fires, thereby aiding in the reduction of air pollution.
In alignment with his commitment to ensuring safe, affordable, and accessible air travel for all, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the new Terminal Building of the Maharaja Agrasen airport in Hisar, valued at over Rs 410 crore.
Highlighting the introduction of flights that will connect Haryana to Ayodhya Dham, symbolizing a direct link between the sacred land of Shri Krishna and the city of Lord Ram, the Prime Minister announced that flights to additional cities will soon commence from the Hisar airport.
He emphasized the significance of laying the foundation stone for the new terminal building as a step towards realizing Haryana's aspirations.
He congratulated the residents of Haryana on this remarkable achievement.
