Chandigarh, Sep 2 (NationPress) The Haryana government has embarked on a pivotal journey to reinforce and modernize the state's irrigation infrastructure. In a critical meeting led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday, a detailed refurbishment plan for minors was sanctioned. This initiative will see the implementation of approximately 54 distinct projects at an estimated cost of Rs 315 crore.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this scheme aims to enhance the depth, width, and structure of canals using state-of-the-art technology to guarantee a prompt and sufficient irrigation water supply to farmers. As part of this endeavor, 30 canals will undergo rehabilitation, while 24 canals will be remodeled across various canal circles.
This initiative is designed to ensure a steady supply of irrigation water for crops, diminish reliance on groundwater, and improve the agricultural productivity of the state. Additionally, it aims to tackle the issue of waterlogging in rural regions.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to finalize all tasks within the designated timeframe while upholding the highest quality standards. Clear directives were issued to prevent any irregularities related to construction materials and to maintain the integrity of the minors.
A total of 54 projects are set to be executed under the Yamuna Water Service, Loharu Water Service, and the Jawahar Lal Nehru Circle.
During the meeting, updates revealed that 41 projects will be initiated under the Yamuna Water Services Circle, alongside one project under the same circle and two additional projects under the Yamuna Water Services Circle.
The scope of these projects includes various tasks such as strengthening and elevating the banks of minors, rehabilitation of lining, installation of pipelines, and repairs of head regulators, siphons, culverts, and outlets. This initiative will particularly benefit the districts of Bhiwani, Rohtak, Jind, Charkhi Dadri, Rewari, Sonipat, and Karnal.
