Heavy Rain Hits Parts of Rajasthan, More Expected Today

Jaipur, Jan 11 (NationPress) Heavy rain affected various regions of Rajasthan on Saturday, amplifying the chill in the atmosphere, according to the meteorological department.
The Meteorological Department in Rajasthan has issued a yellow alert in numerous areas due to Western Disturbances that may lead to additional rain.
Cloud cover, rain, and hailstorms are predicted in 15 districts, which include Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions.
Areas like Churu, Sikar, Alwar, Hanumangarh, and Jhunjhunu are anticipated to experience hailstorms.
Dense fog has also been forecasted for January 12 and 13.
Several districts in the desert state began to feel the effects of a Western Disturbance, resulting in rain across many areas, including Ajmer, Pali, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Nagaur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Fatehpur (Sikar), Barmer, and Jaisalmer.
Rain commenced late on Friday night in some locations and early morning in others, leading to deserted streets as residents chose to stay indoors.
Rajgarh and Sujangarh in Churu recorded 3 mm of rainfall, while cold winds heightened the chill in districts such as Jaipur and Jodhpur.
In Nagaur's Fateh Colony, heavy rain started at 9.30 a.m., prompting residents to remain indoors due to the biting cold. In Sojat (Pali), light rain started at 5 a.m., followed by a heavy downpour lasting approximately 10 minutes, with winds recorded at 20 km/h, contributing to the cold.
According to the Meteorological Department, Jaisalmer received 2 mm of rainfall, while Chelak, Jhinjhinali, Phalsund, Baniyana, Pokaran, Devikot, Chandhan, and Sankda received 1 mm each in Jodhpur.
Due to the Western Disturbance, dense fog blanketed Kishangarh early in the day, significantly reducing visibility.
The drizzle exacerbated the cold, causing traffic delays on roads and highways.
On Friday, the skies were clear with sunshine; however, cold winds caused discomfort, and temperatures dropped to 9 degrees Celsius by evening. The ongoing weather activities have intensified the chill in Rajasthan, prompting residents to take precautions as the state prepares for two days of dense fog and hailstorms in the affected areas.
