MeT Department Issues Warning for Hailstorms and Rain in Various Regions of Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Meteorological (MeT) Department has issued a warning regarding an approaching western disturbance that is set to hit Rajasthan on Tuesday, predicting the possibility of rain and hail in districts such as Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, and Kota on January 14 and 15.
A yellow alert has been activated for 18 districts within the Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions, indicating expected cloud cover, rain, and hail in specific areas.
Moreover, a warning for dense fog has been issued for 15 districts, according to officials.
The effects of the western disturbance have already led to a noticeable chill in Rajasthan over the weekend. Rainfall that began on Saturday persisted in various areas through Sunday, resulting in a considerable decrease in daytime temperatures.
In numerous cities, the disparity between day and night temperatures has shrunk, exacerbating the cold conditions.
The weather center has also alerted residents about the potential for hailstorms in districts including Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, and Nagaur.
Previously, Sadalpur in Churu recorded the highest rainfall of 24 mm within the last 24 hours. Jodhpur faced the coldest temperatures of the season on Sunday, as cold winds swept through the area. This was the first instance this winter where daytime temperatures fell below 20 degrees Celsius, marking it as the coldest day recorded so far. Had the night temperature dipped just one degree lower, the weather department would have classified Sunday as a "cold day".
Since the start of the new western disturbance on Saturday at 9 p.m., relative humidity has climbed to 100 percent, resulting in dew formation that made vehicle surfaces wet. Dense fog began to form post 4 a.m., with visibility fluctuating between 500 and 1,000 meters. Moderate to dense fog was reported in several regions of the state.
Many areas are experiencing cold to very cold conditions. The highest maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius was observed in Pali, while the lowest minimum temperature of 4.0 degrees was noted in Sirohi. The minimum temperature, however, remained below 10 degrees Celsius in various parts of the state, including Ajmer at 7.8 degrees, Bhilwara at 5.6, Jaipur at 7.8, and Pilani at 7.6 degrees Celsius.
