Rajasthan Faces Increased Chill as Rain and Hailstorm Strike, 12 Injured in Various Incidents

Jaipur, Dec 28 (NationPress) Rain and hailstorm affected various areas in Rajasthan since Friday, resulting in a drop in temperatures and an increase in chill, as reported by a meteorological official on Saturday. An alert has been issued for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, particularly in the western regions of the state.
Approximately a dozen individuals sustained injuries in different rain-related incidents throughout the state since Friday, officials indicated.
On Saturday, the minimum temperature in Jaipur was recorded at 13.2 degrees Celsius, which is 4.4 degrees Celsius above the normal range. A total of 11 mm of rain was reported from 8:30 am on Friday to 8:30 am on Saturday, according to meteorologists.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding dense fog in the Pink City on Saturday, with fog alerts also being issued for both eastern and western regions of Rajasthan.
On Friday evening, Dholpur faced heavy rain and a storm around 9 pm, leading to the uprooting of trees and the collapse of temporary shelters, which obstructed roads in several areas. The administration dispatched JCBs to clear the roads late into the night.
Ajmer also witnessed substantial rainfall on Friday. Heavy rains and hailstorms caused thick fog in districts such as Jaipur, Pali, Kota, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Sikar, with visibility dropping to 30–50 meters, necessitating the use of headlights on highways.
The IMD has predicted light rain in seven districts within the Kota and Bharatpur divisions on Saturday, as well as fog across 26 districts statewide.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is anticipated across the divisions of Jaipur, Kota, Amer, and Bikaner in the next 24 hours. Hailstorms are forecast in certain areas of Jaipur, Amer, and Bharatpur divisions, as stated by the meteorological department.
Additionally, a notable decrease in daytime temperatures is anticipated, according to meteorological officials on Saturday.
Dense to very dense fog is expected in several areas of the state and is likely to persist for 3-4 days.
In light of the cold wave, the meteorological department has issued recommendations for individuals to dress warmly and layer their clothing to retain body heat, frequently consume warm beverages to stay cozy, avoid wearing loose-fitting clothes during a cold wave, and limit outdoor activities while staying indoors as much as possible during this period.
