Patiala, Jan 15 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, on Wednesday inaugurated a unique boutique and heritage hotel named Ran Baas-Palace, which has been constructed within the historic 18th-century fortress, Quilla Mubarak. This site, once the residence of the royal family, had remained neglected for many years in Patiala.

The Chief Minister emphasized that this elegantly designed hotel, built in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aims to establish a new standard in comfort, hospitality, and elegance. He anticipates that this splendid hotel will become a prime location for destination weddings and other events.

Mann noted that the hotel would boost tourism in the royal city, presenting itself as a comprehensive and holistic wedding venue while enhancing its reputation as a center for religious tourism. He stated that beyond its grandeur, this hotel embodies the rich cultural heritage of the state.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's dedication to transforming Punjab into a prominent tourist destination in the country through initiatives like this. He mentioned that Punjab is a geographically fortunate region and that the government plans to elevate the tourism sector to new heights.

Plans are underway to develop areas surrounding Chohal Dam, Ranjit Sagar Dam, Shahpur Kandi Dam, and the Kandi regions into prime tourist attractions to draw visitors from around the world.

Mann revealed that the state owns land in other regions, including Goa, Jaipur in Rajasthan, and McLeodganj in Himachal Pradesh, which will also be developed. He highlighted the historic achievement of acquiring the Goindwal power plant from the private company, GVK Power, marking a significant shift as the government has now begun to reclaim private assets.

This hotel is the first heritage hotel in the state, and the Chief Minister assured that more such projects would be initiated by effectively utilizing the historic buildings available in Punjab.

Additionally, the Punjab government plans to construct a heritage street in the native village of Shaheed-e-Aazam Bhagat Singh to honor the significant contributions of Punjab and its people in the national freedom struggle. This street, measuring 850 meters, will connect the existing museum to the ancestral home of Shaheed Bhagat Singh located in Khatkar Kalan.
