Shimla, Jan 26 (NationPress) In the midst of frigid temperatures, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla raised the national flag during the state-level observance of the 77th Republic Day at the renowned Ridge in Shimla.
Following the flag hoisting, the Governor reviewed the parade, which was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Shimla) Mehar Panwar, and received the salute from an impressive march past commanded by Lt. Shashwat Tiwari of 1 J&K Rifles.

During the celebrations, the Governor recognized Ritik Chauhan from Gagana village under the Chambi post office in Chopal tehsil of Shimla district with the Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak for his remarkable bravery in rescuing lives.
Vibrant tableaux illustrating various developmental initiatives and achievements from different government departments were a highlight of the festivities. Cultural performances infused energy into the proceedings, with artists from the North Zone Cultural Centre in Patiala presenting folk dances from Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.
The Eklavya Kala Manch of Himachal Pradesh Police and 1st IRBN Bangarh in Una performed a street play focusing on the theme of ‘Drug-Free Himachal’, raising awareness about the dangers of drug consumption and the illegal smuggling of narcotics, particularly chitta. Spectators were captivated by performances from artists in Hamirpur and Shimla.
