Mumbai, July 10 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday urged the Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pune Metropolitan Development Authority, and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to devise a coordinated plan to address various issues, including traffic congestion, encroachments, flooding, and drinking water concerns in the Hinjewadi IT Park area of Pune.
He emphasized the submission of a detailed plan to tackle these challenges and urged for timely completion of the necessary works, ensuring that providing high-quality services to citizens remains a top priority with the resources at hand.
The Hinjewadi IT Park contributes to annual software exports of Rs 1.05 lakh crore yet is currently in the spotlight due to the civic issues impacting both IT units and residents.
During a meeting addressing the concerns in the Hinjewadi IT Park, he noted that thousands of IT professionals and local residents are suffering due to the persistent traffic jams in the area, especially during the monsoon season.
“Immediate measures must be taken to expedite the pending works related to roads, ring roads, flyovers, public transport, parking systems, and metro projects in these areas. Separating the road from Kaspatevasti to Hinjewadi Phase 3 could alleviate traffic congestion; however, all roads must be built with cement concrete. The pending proposal for Mhalunge IT City should receive immediate approval. Land acquisition must involve local representatives and appropriate compensation for road widening,” he stated.
He also directed that the construction of the Hinjewadi elevated six-lane road should be prioritized, with decisions made within 15 days.
Prioritization should also be given to the expansion of roads from Surya Hospital to Maan, Mhalunge to Hinjewadi Phase I, Shani Mandir Wakad to Marunji, and Nande to Maan.
“A plan for the Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi corridor should be developed. A public transport hub is needed in the Wakad-Balewadi area to manage passenger flow and reduce crowding. Both Municipal Corporations must address footpath concerns to prevent citizens from flooding the roads due to increased crowds. He also instructed that land acquisition from Patilvasti to Balewadi Road should commence within a month.”
“Conduct a study on rainwater management for the upcoming years and plan for effective drainage. Appropriate locations for drainage lines must be identified. The Divisional Commissioner is to coordinate and organize meetings for all projects,” said the Chief Minister.
