Shillong, March 24 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah, DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with Governors and Chief Ministers from various northeastern states, have offered their sincere congratulations to the personnel of the Assam Rifles and their families in honor of the 190th Raising Day celebrated on Monday.

Based in Shillong, the Assam Rifles, established in 1835, is currently responsible for securing the 1,643-km unprotected border with Myanmar, which spans the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh (520 km), Manipur (398 km), Nagaland (215 km), and Mizoram (510 km).

In addition to safeguarding the India-Myanmar border, a significant contingent of this paramilitary force is stationed in the northeastern states, Jammu and Kashmir, and various other regions throughout the country.

The Union Home Minister remarked on his X account: “Warm greetings to our courageous sentinels of the Northeast, the Assam Rifles personnel and their families on this Raising Day. This force has successfully tackled the security challenges of the Northeast with remarkable valor and has endeared itself to the populace through its humanitarian efforts. I salute the heroes of the Assam Rifles who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.”

In his message, DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia posted on X: “Honoring the steadfast courage and commitment of the Assam Rifles on their Raising Day. For decades, they have been the stalwarts of the Northeast, ensuring security with unmatched bravery while also building strong connections with the people through their tireless service. My sincere tributes to the brave warriors for their sacrifices in service to our nation.”

Governors from the northeastern states, along with Chief Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam, Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh, Home Minister Mama Natung of Arunachal Pradesh, and Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, also conveyed their greetings to the Assam Rifles personnel and their families on this significant occasion.
