Shillong, June 10 (NationPress) All individuals implicated in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, including Sonam Raghuvanshi, who stands as the main suspect in the homicide of her spouse Raja Raghuvanshi, will be presented before a local court tomorrow, officials reported on Tuesday.

Vivek Syiem, the Superintendent of Police for East Khasi Hills, stated that the Meghalaya Police secured a six-day transit remand for those arrested in Madhya Pradesh and a three-day transit remand for those captured in Uttar Pradesh.

He further mentioned that the Indore team from Meghalaya Police is scheduled to depart on Wednesday morning, while the primary suspect, Sonam Raghuvanshi, arrived in Shillong late Tuesday night.

"Following comprehensive examinations and required formalities, all suspects will be escorted to the crime scene for a reconstruction of events," the district police chief informed the media.

The Meghalaya Police has dubbed this operation 'Operation Honeymoon'.

The IPS officer emphasized that the police are meticulously crafting a robust case against all suspects, as substantial evidence has been gathered, and the case will soon be formalized with a charge sheet.

Sonam Raghuvanshi turned herself in at the Nanganj police station in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, and was subsequently apprehended by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police on Monday.

A different SIT team, currently conducting preliminary investigations in Indore, is set to bring in other implicated individuals -- Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Raj Singh Khushwaha (21), and Anand Singh Kurmi (23) to Shillong on Wednesday.

Another police representative noted that the SIT has yet to determine the duration for which they will seek custody of the accused from the court.

Superintendent of Police Syiem acknowledged that the Meghalaya Police is facing significant pressure to resolve this murder case, which came to light following the discovery of Raja Raghuvanshi's decomposed body on June 2. Consequently, the SIT was established, and investigations commenced.

Within a week, two teams from Meghalaya Police were dispatched to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

"With the collaboration of law enforcement in both states, we successfully arrested all individuals involved in this premeditated crime," the police official stated.

Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi tied the knot on May 11 and arrived in Shillong on May 20 for their honeymoon.

Just a day later, the couple ventured to the Sohra-Cherrapunji regions of East Khasi Hills by renting a two-wheeler.

During their honeymoon, they spent a night at Shipara Homestay located at Nongriat village -- famous for its living double-decker root bridge on May 22.

A local tour guide informed the police that the couple was accompanied by three male tourists, believed to be Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Singh Kurmi.

Superintendent of Police Syiem confirmed that Raja Raghuvanshi was killed on May 23.

His decomposed remains were found on June 2 in a deep gorge beneath the Wei Sawdong parking lot at Riat Arliang in Sohra.

After allegedly murdering her husband, Sonam and the three others fled Sohra and caught a train to Indore from Guwahati, approximately 100 km from Shillong.

According to police officer Syiem, after staying at a rented location in Indore, Sonam eventually escaped to Uttar Pradesh.

Authorities suspect that she and her accomplices were attempting to evade capture by heading towards Nepal, with Ghazipur being around 200 km from the Nepal border.

The murder of Raja Raghuvanshi was uncovered when locals discovered an abandoned rental two-wheeler on May 24 at Sohrarim village, situated along the Shillong-Sohra Road.
