Kochi, Feb 1 (NationPress) A three-day Matsya Mela (Seafood fair) commenced at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) on Saturday, attracting seafood lovers and individuals interested in locally sourced farm varieties.

This seafood festival showcases delectable Kallummakkaya (green mussel) biryani, Sagara sadya, and an assortment of fish and prawn varieties, becoming the focal point of interest.

Local specialties such as pearl spot, squid, prawns, scientifically depurated live oysters, and a selection of sweets captivated visitors with their distinctive taste.

The Matsya Mela also includes buyer-seller meetings, technology exhibitions, workshops, and training sessions.

Attendees can buy locally sourced, authentic farm-fresh products brought in by various farmer producer organizations.

The offerings feature Alangad jaggery, moringa powder, millet nutritional mix, traditional sweets, pokkali varieties, banana halwa, mushroom, jackfruit, and tapioca value additions, along with spices, pickles, and honey.

This initiative aims to establish a market for these products and facilitate trade agreements.

Another attraction of the event is the exhibition of stunning ornamental fish in vibrant colors.
