Belagavi, May 24 (NationPress) In a deeply disturbing incident in Karnataka's Belagavi district, an epileptic woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws, who attempted to disguise the crime as an accident.

The suspects, identified as Santhosh Honakande, a resident of Mallabad village near Athani town in Belagavi district, along with his father Kamanna Honakande and mother Jayashree Honakande, have been apprehended.

The victim is Renuka Honakande, who held a degree in Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS).

According to police reports, Santhosh, a mechanical engineer, planned the murder, with his parents executing the sinister plot.

Under the guise of visiting a temple, Jayashree took Renuka to Madubhavi village. They remained there until evening before returning at night.

Upon alighting the bus about four kilometers from their village, Jayashree called Kamanna to collect them on his motorcycle.

After traveling approximately a kilometer, Kamanna stopped the vehicle in a secluded area, where he and Jayashree strangled Renuka with her saree.

To mask the murder, they tied her body to the motorcycle and dragged it for around 200 meters along the road.

They subsequently contacted the Athani Police, claiming Renuka had fallen from the bike and died. However, the post-mortem examination revealed suffocation as the cause of death, contradicting their account.

During police questioning, Kamanna confessed to the crime.

Further inquiry confirmed Jayashree’s involvement, leading to her arrest.

Ultimately, Santhosh was also apprehended after it was revealed he orchestrated the entire scheme. Police reports indicate that Santhosh and Renuka were married in 2020 and appeared to be content for the first three years. However, after discovering Renuka's epilepsy, Santhosh grew discontented, especially due to her inability to conceive.

During this time, Santhosh began an affair with a woman in Maharashtra, where he worked.

He started harassing Renuka, with his parents enabling his abusive behavior, attempting to force Renuka to leave.

Following the news of his partner’s pregnancy in Maharashtra, Santhosh devised a plan to eliminate Renuka, using his parents to carry out the murder to avoid legal repercussions.
