Hyderabad, Jan 16 (NationPress) The Manager of a private travel agency sustained injuries when two individuals, believed to be linked to a Rs 93 lakh robbery in Bidar town, Karnataka, opened fire in the Afzalgunj region of Hyderabad on Thursday.
The gunfire caused chaos in the busy area, prompting police to issue an alert to capture the suspects, who fled after firing two shots. This event unfolded as a team from Karnataka police attempted to apprehend the suspects, who had boarded a private bus headed to Raipur.
Jahangir, the ticket manager of Roshan Travels, was injured during the shooting. Moazzam reported to the media that the two men arrived at the agency around 3:30 PM to purchase tickets to Raipur under the name Amit Kumar. They got onto a minibus set to transport them and other passengers to the outskirts of the city, where the bus to Raipur would commence.
Upon suspicion, the ticket manager requested the men to reveal the contents of their bags. One suspect attempted to silence him by offering a bundle of cash. However, Jahangir rejected the bribe and insisted they open their bags. In response, one of the assailants drew a weapon and fired two shots at Jahangir before fleeing towards Osmania Hospital.
A couple of Karnataka policemen on the bus were also en route to Raipur for an investigation into another matter.
Injured, Jahangir rushed back to the travel agency's office where he was transported to Essra Hospital. Fortunately, he was reported to be out of danger. Police arrived promptly at the scene and initiated a search for the attackers. B. Balaswami, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone), stated that specialized teams have been organized to locate the robbers. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting additional evidence.
Police believe the suspects were involved in a shocking robbery earlier in Bidar. The bike-riding assailants reportedly fired six rounds, killing two security guards before escaping with Rs 93 lakh meant for loading at a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in Shivaji Chowk, Bidar.
This robbery transpired around 11:30 AM as cash-loading personnel arrived at the busy ATM location. The police in Bidar have established several teams to pursue the suspects.
Given that the assailants are believed to have fled towards Telangana, an alert has been issued at the inter-state border.
