IIM Raipur Opts Out of CAP, Introducing Its Own Admission Process

New Delhi, Dec 24 (NationPress) The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur has revealed its intention to manage admissions for its esteemed 2-year MBA program via an independent selection method in the next cycle.
Consequently, IIM Raipur will not participate in the Common Admission Process (CAP) 2025 and will assess candidates directly using their CAT scores and personal interviews.
This strategic move is aimed at providing applicants with a more streamlined and personalized application experience, reinforcing the institute's steadfast dedication to academic excellence and innovation in management education.
The profile short-listing will commence in the second week of January 2025. The admission interviews will take place in eight locations: Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Guwahati, and Raipur.
For the 2022-2024 batch, the highest CTC offered at IIM-R was Rs 42.29 LPA, while the average CTC stood at Rs 18.15 LPA.
Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, stated to IANS on Tuesday, “Our institute is devoted to the holistic development of our students. In addition to academic excellence, we provide opportunities that foster cross-cultural and emotional intelligence, encourage innovation, and enhance the entrepreneurial spirit. With our choice to execute an independent admission process, we intend to deliver a more tailored and seamless experience for applicants, aligning with our vision to cultivate talent and innovation. For example, we will include at least one industry expert in our interview panel and will conduct interviews across eight cities, including Guwahati and Lucknow -- highlighting our commitment to reaching the hinterlands of our nation. This approach will also broaden our social outreach for our flagship MBA program, which is facilitated by our highly skilled faculty and will continue to set benchmarks in academic excellence, diversity, and industry relevance, empowering students to thrive globally.”
The tentative interview period will span from February 10 to March 9, 2025. Interested candidates can find all relevant information, including eligibility criteria, selection processes, and guidelines, on the official IIM-R Admissions Portal.
In recent years, this premier management institute has achieved a notable gender diversity ratio. Thanks to its robust industry connections, the institute attracted 116 recruiters during last year’s placement drive, with 38 new additions to its roster. The institute consistently demonstrates remarkable academic diversity, welcoming students from various fields such as engineering, science, commerce, arts, medicine, law, hotel management, and more.
The two-year flagship MBA program at IIM Raipur is designed to cultivate leaders with a strong grounding in business management, analytics, and innovative thinking.
