Vice President Radhakrishnan and Minister Vaishnaw to Honor Graduates at IIMC's 57th Convocation

New Delhi, Feb 27 (NationPress) Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to present awards to the outstanding students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) during its 57th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024–25 academic year, which will take place on Friday.
Additionally, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw, who serves as the Chancellor of IIMC, will oversee the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for a new Academic Block and Hostel Block at the institute.
Prominent attendees will include Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; R. Jagannathan, Chairman of the IIMC Society; Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Vice Chancellor of IIMC; and L. Madhu Nag, Registrar of IIMC, as stated in an official announcement.
Faculty and staff members will also gather to celebrate this significant academic occasion and honor the accomplishments of the graduating students.
Students from various programs, including postgraduate diploma courses in Journalism (in multiple languages such as English, Hindi, Radio and TV, Digital Media, Odia, Urdu, Marathi, and Malayalam), Advertising, and Public Relations, will receive diplomas after successfully passing their examinations for the 2024–25 year.
During the convocation, in addition to the diplomas, a total of 35 medals—23 of which include cash prizes—will be awarded to the top achievers from each course across all six campuses.
The Vice President will also lay the foundation stone for the new Academic Block and Hostel Block at IIMC, joined by senior dignitaries including the Union Minister and the Secretary.
On this occasion, the Creators Lounge at the Incubation Centre will be inaugurated by the Union Minister, attended by senior officials from the Ministry and the institute.
Founded on August 17, 1965, IIMC operates five regional centers throughout the country to provide journalism courses in both English and regional languages.
The first regional center was established in Dhenkanal, Odisha, in 1993 to serve the eastern region. In the academic year 2011–12, two additional centers were launched in Amravati, Maharashtra for the western region and in Aizawl, Mizoram for the north-eastern region.
Subsequently, regional centers were also established in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, to serve the northern region, and in Kottayam, Kerala, for the southern region from the academic year 2012–13, as per information available on the official website.
