New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) The Vice President, C.P. Radhakrishnan, is set to honor the distinguished students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) during the 57th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024–25 academic year, according to an official announcement.

This significant event will also feature Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Chancellor of IIMC, who will oversee the ceremony for the groundbreaking of the new Academic and Hostel Blocks at the institute.

Additional prominent attendees include Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; R. Jagannathan, Chairman of the IIMC Society; Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur, Vice Chancellor of IIMC; and L. Madhu Nag, Registrar of IIMC, as stated in the official announcement.

Faculty and staff from the institute will also participate in this momentous academic event, celebrating the accomplishments of the graduates.

Graduating students from various programs, including postgraduate diplomas in Journalism (English, Hindi, Radio and TV, Digital Media, Odia, Urdu, Marathi, and Malayalam), as well as Advertising and Public Relations from multiple campuses, will receive their diplomas.

During the ceremony, a total of 35 awards, including 23 with cash prizes, will be presented to the top students from each course across all six campuses.

The Vice President will also lay the cornerstone for the new Academic Block and Hostel Block, accompanied by senior dignitaries including the Union Minister and the Secretary.

On this occasion, the Creators Lounge at the Incubation Centre will be inaugurated by the Union Minister, along with senior officials from both the Ministry and the institute.

Founded on August 17, 1965, IIMC operates five regional centers nationwide, offering journalism courses in both English and various regional languages.

The first regional center was established in Dhenkanal, Odisha, in 1993 to serve the eastern region. Subsequent centers were opened in Amravati, Maharashtra, for the west and Aizawl, Mizoram, for the northeast starting from the academic year 2011–12.

Additionally, regional centers in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, and Kottayam, Kerala, were launched for the northern and southern regions, respectively, beginning in the academic year 2012–13, as detailed on the official website.
