New Delhi, April 21 (NationPress) Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to travel to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, where he will serve as the chief guest at the third convocation ceremony of IIMT University.
As per the official schedule, the Vice President is anticipated to commence his journey from Delhi in the morning, utilizing the Namo Bharat (RRTS) train from Sarai Kale Khan station. He is expected to reach Begumpul station in Meerut, and from there, will travel by road to the university campus located in Ganganagar.
In an announcement regarding the ceremony, IIMT University shared on social media: "An inspiring presence for a defining milestone. IIMT University Meerut is privileged to welcome C.P. Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Vice President of India, as the Chief Guest for the 3rd Convocation Ceremony 2026."
This convocation is a significant academic occasion for the institution, where approximately 3,940 students from the 2024 and 2025 batches will receive their degrees. Among these graduates, 203 distinguished students will be honored with gold medals for their academic achievements.
During the event, the Vice President will also bestow honorary doctorate degrees on esteemed spiritual and social leaders, including Swami Kailashanand Giri, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, and Hari Singh Rawat.
Due to the high-profile nature of the visit, extensive security measures have been implemented throughout Meerut. More than 400 police personnel, including senior officers, have been deployed, and drone surveillance is in operation to ensure safety. Traffic diversions have been set up, especially along the route leading to Ganganagar.
Several notable dignitaries, such as Rajya Sabha MP Laxmikant Bajpai and MP Arun Govil, are also expected to be present at the ceremony.
The Vice President recently concluded a historic two-day official visit to Sri Lanka, marking the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian Vice President to the nation. During this visit, he announced the expansion of the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) scheme to include fifth and sixth generation Indian-origin Tamils in Sri Lanka.
