Radhakrishnan, is set to commence a three-day tour across three Northeastern states starting Friday, where he will serve as the chief guest at the convocations of three central universities located in Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.
On his inaugural visit to Nagaland, the Vice-President will land at Lumami in the Zunheboto district on Friday and will deliver a speech at the eighth convocation of Nagaland University.
Officials have reported that Vice-President Radhakrishnan will address the 20th convocation of Mizoram University on March 7.
On March 8, he will participate in and speak at the 14th convocation of Tripura University.
In Aizawl, Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena presided over a preparatory meeting to assess the arrangements for the Vice-President's visit to Mizoram.
During the session, various departmental representatives discussed their assigned roles and collaborated to ensure a seamless execution of the event.
Logistical and protocol-related issues regarding the Vice-President's reception and schedule were also thoroughly examined.
On March 8, Vice-President Radhakrishnan will be the chief guest at Tripura University's 14th convocation.
Additionally, he plans to meet 'Lakhpati Didis' at the International Trade and Fair Centre in Hapania, located on the outskirts of Agartala, and will pay homage at the Albert Ekka Memorial Park in Lichubagan.
Authorities have implemented extensive security measures to ensure the safety of Vice-President Radhakrishnan during his visit to Tripura.
A representative from Tripura University stated that the convocation ceremony had been postponed for the previous two years, in 2024 and 2025.
During the event, certificates, degrees, gold medals, and PhD degrees will be awarded to deserving students.
In total, 283 students from various departments will be honored with gold medals, and 149 research scholars will be granted PhD degrees at the upcoming convocation.
The Vice-President will inaugurate the ceremony on the university campus in Suryamaninagar, situated on the outskirts of Agartala.
Notable figures such as Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and the university's Chancellor Ahmad Javed will also address the attendees.
Established in October 1987, Tripura University was elevated to Central University status on July 2, 2007, under the Tripura University Act, 2006, passed by Parliament.
The university is currently affiliated with 64 colleges.
