Radhakrishnan on Friday emphasized the government's dedication to advancing the development of the Northeast region, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Radhakrishnan referenced the tripartite agreement reached in February 2026, which involved the Central government, the Nagaland government, and the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO), facilitated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Vice President expressed optimism that this agreement would address longstanding issues and encourage peace and development in the region.
Expressing his delight at visiting Nagaland during his inaugural trip to the Northeast since taking office, he described the state as a unique blend of nature, culture, and bravery, underscoring that the real strength of Nagaland lies in its people and their vibrant traditions.
He reiterated India's principle of unity in diversity, affirming that the nation’s strength is rooted in the unity that connects its people, rather than in their differences.
The Vice President commended Nagaland University for its significant contributions to higher education since its inception in 1994, after being established from North Eastern Hill University. He acknowledged the university’s efforts to expand its academic outreach and improve access to quality education throughout the region.
Additionally, he praised the university’s accomplishments, which include the creation of a cancer research laboratory and initiatives aimed at preserving and documenting indigenous Naga languages and customary laws.
In congratulating the graduating students, he urged them to pursue progress with purpose while ensuring a balance between development and environmental conservation.
Encouraging the younger generation to lead responsible lives, he called on students to commit to building a stronger nation and to firmly state “No to Drugs.”
As the world evolves at an unprecedented pace, Radhakrishnan emphasized the necessity of continuous learning and skill enhancement to navigate emerging challenges and seize opportunities.

During his visit, he also laid the foundation stone for the HEFA Phase II buildings at Nagaland University.
