Iltija Mufti Criticized by Various Political Leaders for Her 'Hindutva is a Disease' Statement

New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) Iltija Mufti, the daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has received intense criticism from numerous political factions following her statements about Hinduism. Several leaders condemned her for making divisive comments and advised her to "seek psychiatric help.">

The uproar began when Iltija shared on X on Saturday, declaring, "Hindutva is a disease.">

She added, "Even Lord Ram would have to hang his head in shame upon witnessing all this. Minor Muslim children are being beaten with chappals simply for refusing to utter the name of Ram. Hindutva is a disease that has infected millions of Indians and sullied the name of God."

In light of the backlash, Iltija sought to clarify her position, explaining that she referenced Lord Ram in her post to highlight the hypocrisy of individuals who profess to support Ram Rajya while engaging in brutal acts.

Her remarks attracted sharp rebukes from political leaders across the board, who accused her of making offensive and divisive comments against Hinduism.

BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok remarked, "The Mufti family is the greatest disease for Jammu and Kashmir and the nation. They should refrain from making such statements about Hindutva. If they view Hinduism as a disease, they ought to distance themselves from it."

Congress MP Imran Masood described her comments as "baseless.">

He stated, "By making such unfounded statements, individuals aim to gain political mileage. One must respect all religions. If you do not honor someone else's faith, why would they honor yours?"

Maharashtra AIMIM MLA Mohammed Ismail Abdul Khalique noted, "The discussion of sectarianism is akin to a wound, a disease. Our country is secular, and everyone is entitled to their own rights here. Engaging in sectarianism or discrimination is inappropriate."

Maharashtra Congress MLA Amin Patel emphasized the fundamental right to practice any religion one chooses. "Everyone has the right to follow their beliefs and faith. We, from the land of Ganga and Yamuna, should honor all religions," he stated.

Shiv Sena MLA Ashish Jaiswal dismissed Iltija's comments, asserting, "She is unwell herself."

Maharashtra BJP MLA Yogesh Sagar suggested, "She should consult a psychiatrist and undergo testing. Being the daughter of Mehbooba Mufti does not necessitate public discussion about her."

Rohit Pawar, the SP MLA in Maharashtra, emphasized that no one should make "such derogatory remarks" about any faith.
