Kashmiri Pandit Group Files Police Report Against Iltija Mufti for Offensive Remarks

Jammu, Dec 9 (NationPress) An association of migrant Kashmiri Pandits declared on Monday that it has lodged a police report against the purportedly derogatory and inflammatory comments made by Iltija Mufti, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the daughter of former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

According to a statement issued by the Kashmiri Pandit group named ‘Youth 4 Panun Kashmir’, a police complaint has been submitted against Iltija Mufti for her allegedly derogatory and provocative remarks regarding Lord Rama and the Hindu community.

Vithal Chowdhary, the President of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir (Y4PK), has filed this police complaint against Iltija Mufti for her offensive tweet targeting Lord Rama, the Hindu faith, and its followers.

The complaint has been registered with the Cyber Crime Cell in Delhi, asserting that her statement is profoundly offensive, intended to provoke communal discord, and deliberately insults Lord Rama, the Hindu religion, and its adherents. The complaint references Sections 302, 325, and 323 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 67 of the IT Act.

Roots in Kashmir (RIK), another significant Kashmiri Pandit organization, has supported Y4PK's actions.

Amit Raina, spokesperson for RIK, stated that Iltija Mufti is a repeat offender and that RIK will extend all possible support to Vithal Chowdhary to ensure that she faces legal repercussions for her inflammatory statements.

Youth 4 Panun Kashmir has urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, block the offensive content under Section 69A of the IT Act, and take strict legal action against Mufti.

“The organization, along with allies like RIK, reaffirms its dedication to pursuing justice and safeguarding the sanctity of all religious beliefs in India,” the statement emphasized.

It is noteworthy that Panun Kashmir, the parent organization of Youth 4 Panun Kashmir, was the first to advocate for the establishment of a homeland for the minority Kashmiri Pandit community within the Kashmir Valley, from which they were displaced in the 1990s.
