Earlier that day, Vice Admiral Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras met with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, focusing on enhancing maritime collaboration through navy-to-navy interactions, joint exercises, and training exchanges.
Before their meeting, Vice Admiral Kataras was honored with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns.
In a post on X, an Indian Navy spokesperson noted, "VAdm Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras, Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff was received by Adm Dinesh K Tripathi CNS, with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns, New Delhi, on 16 Feb 26."
Discussions concentrated on improving bilateral maritime cooperation, emphasizing expanded navy-to-navy exchanges, joint exercises, enhanced training programs, and deeper operational collaboration. Both leaders reaffirmed their collective commitment to fostering maritime security, interoperability, and greater professional interaction.
Earlier this month, Greece's National Defence Minister Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias visited India at the invitation of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
During their meeting on February 9, Rajnath Singh and Dendias discussed strategies to bolster their respective indigenous defence industries through a partnership aligning India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat with Hellenic defence reforms under 'Agenda 2030.'
The two ministers reiterated that the India-Greece Strategic Partnership is grounded in shared values of peace, stability, freedom, and mutual respect, as stated by the Ministry of Defence.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Dendias addressed several issues concerning regional peace and security, acknowledging the need to enhance bilateral defence cooperation and strategic relationships. A Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026 was also exchanged, outlining future military engagements between the armed forces of both nations.
