New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) The 9th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day was commemorated nationwide on Tuesday. During this significant event, retired Captain Akhilesh Saxena lauded the Indian Army, emphasizing its numerous accomplishments. He remarked that over the past decade, the Indian Army has undergone remarkable enhancement.

In a discussion with IANS, retired Captain Akhilesh Saxena asserted, "Whether it’s the Army or the Air Force, the Indian military has fortified itself in every domain over the last 10 years. The Indian Army now boasts cutting-edge weaponry, which has amplified our capabilities. Furthermore, the army is advancing in drone technology, and our intelligence infrastructure has been significantly bolstered."

He highlighted that previously, the Indian Army relied on importing weapons, but now, India is actively exporting weaponry to other nations, which is a praiseworthy development.

Saxena also discussed the 'One Rank, One Pension' initiative, stating, "The individuals connected with the army have reaped considerable benefits from this program. While there are some challenges in specific areas, I believe there is still room for enhancement."

Regarding the security of the nation's borders, he emphasized, "India's borders are completely secure, and today, every Indian has unwavering faith in our soldiers. The citizens are assured that with our soldiers stationed, no incidents will transpire at the border."

A number of other former Armed Forces officials also praised India's expanding military capabilities and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative in the defense sector.

It is important to note that Armed Forces Veterans Day is observed annually on January 14 to honor the contributions of India's inaugural Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, to the Indian Army. He retired on this day in 1953, and this day was first celebrated in 2016.
