New Delhi, Sep 25 (NationPress) In a significant advancement that elevates India into an exclusive group of nations, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh revealed on Thursday that the country has successfully conducted the test launch of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile utilizing a Rail-based Mobile Launcher system. This missile is engineered to reach distances of up to 2,000 kilometers and is outfitted with an array of advanced technologies.

This successful flight test of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile represents India's entry into the elite league of nations capable of developing a canisterized launch system that operates from a mobile rail network.

This initiative is part of India's broader strategy to achieve self-sufficiency in defence capabilities, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Aatmanirbharta' across all sectors.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared his congratulations on his X handle, praising the nation and the scientists at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), as well as the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) and security forces for their roles in this successful test.

In his post, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed, “India has successfully executed the launch of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime Missile from a Rail-based Mobile Launcher system.

“This next-generation missile is designed for a range of up to 2000 km and incorporates numerous advanced features.

“The pioneering launch from a specially designed Rail-based Mobile Launcher can traverse the rail network without prior conditions, enabling cross-country mobility and rapid launch capabilities with minimized visibility.

“Congratulations to DRDO, SFC, and the Armed Forces on the successful test of the Intermediate Range Agni-Prime missile. This flight test has firmly placed India among select nations that have developed a canisterized launch system on a mobile rail network.”
