Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Feb 24 (NationPress) In reaction to comments made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi regarding the India-US trade agreement during their recent visit to Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav asserted that this proposed deal signifies India's escalating global stature.
Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that the India-US partnership is set to unveil fresh prospects for farmers, youth, and entrepreneurs nationwide, particularly in Madhya Pradesh, and is expected to elevate the Indian economy to unprecedented levels, as stated by the state BJP.
He remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has positioned India as the world's fourth-largest economy. Yadav challenged Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to apologize to the farmers of Madhya Pradesh for the unfulfilled promises regarding loan waivers rather than oppose the trade agreement.
Further criticizing the opposition, Yadav pointed out that the Congress party gained power in Madhya Pradesh in 2018 with assurances of loan waivers but did not fulfill these commitments.
“Rahul Gandhi, who holds Kisan Chaupal in Bhopal and levels accusations against the BJP, should clarify which pulses are part of the list,” he queried, asserting that the Congress is opposing the trade deal to obscure its own failures.
Highlighting the advancements in agriculture over the past two decades in Madhya Pradesh, Yadav noted that prior to 2003, the irrigated area was restricted to just 7.5 lakh hectares, despite having ample rivers, fields, and resources.
In stark contrast, he mentioned that the current Madhya Pradesh government has witnessed a remarkable growth in the irrigation sector, expanding it by 10 lakh hectares in a short duration, demonstrating that significant outcomes are achievable with dedication and effective policy.
“We are also open to transcending party affiliations and engaging in extensive discussions on agriculture, as our aim is not political gain but the prosperity of farmers and the state,” he conveyed.
On Tuesday, Yadav also announced that the state government has sanctioned five farmer-friendly initiatives amounting to approximately Rs 10,500 crore over the next five years.
