Why Did Delegation Led by Supriya Sule Welcome Egypt's Condemnation of Terrorism?

Cairo, June 4 (NationPress) An Indian Parliamentary delegation, representing all parties and led by Supriya Sule, a Member of Parliament from the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. They expressed strong appreciation for Egypt's firm condemnation of terrorism, emphasizing India's unwavering commitment to combat this global threat, as noted by the Indian Embassy in Egypt.

During their two-day visit to Egypt, the delegation engaged with leaders, scholars, and influential figures in an interactive session moderated by Nabil Fahmy, the former Egyptian Foreign Minister.

The representatives reiterated India's robust stance against terrorism and praised Egypt's strong denunciation of such acts. The Indian Embassy shared this information in a social media post on platform X.

Following a fruitful trip to Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa, the delegation, which includes prominent members like Rajiv Pratap Rudy from the BJP, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney from the Aam Aadmi Party, Manish Tewari from Congress, Anurag Singh Thakur from BJP, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu from the Telugu Desam Party, Anand Sharma from Congress, V. Muraleedharan from BJP, and former Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, arrived in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, on Monday.

On the second day, the delegation continued discussions with key political figures, the Arab League, and intellectual communities in Egypt.

Both nations recognized the increasing momentum in the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership and reaffirmed their joint commitment against terrorism, as stated in the press release.

The Indian delegation expressed profound gratitude for Egypt's strong condemnation of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

Foreign Minister Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's solidarity with India and welcomed deeper collaboration on counter-terrorism efforts.

The delegation also met with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, to discuss India's extensive political, economic, and cultural partnerships with the Arab world. Both sides highlighted the importance of countering terrorism and the necessity for ongoing multilateral cooperation.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, the Indian delegation paid respects at the Heliopolis War Memorial in Cairo, honoring the sacrifice of numerous Indian soldiers who perished during World Wars I and II. This act underscored the deep historical ties and shared sacrifices between India and Egypt, as noted by the Indian Embassy.

At a high-level session with Nabil Fahmy, the delegation engaged with notable Egyptian intellectuals and media leaders.

The delegation reiterated India's principled stance and collective commitment to combat terrorism, welcoming Egypt's ongoing support.

Members of the delegation were featured in interviews with significant Egyptian media outlets, articulating India's vision on counter-terrorism, regional cooperation, and people-centric diplomacy.

These engagements reaffirmed the mutual commitment of India and Egypt to enhance their Strategic Partnership and tackle the threat of terrorism, as reported by the Indian Embassy.

In a post on X, the Indian Embassy shared: "The high-level multi-party delegation from India led by MP Supriya Sule visited the Heliopolis War Memorial in Cairo and honored the immense sacrifices made by numerous Indian soldiers during the World Wars I & II. This memorial symbolizes shared sacrifice and historical bonds between India and Egypt. The delegation members also signed the visitor's book at the Cemetery, which includes the Heliopolis (Port Tewfik) Memorial and the Heliopolis (Aden) Memorial."

The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader efforts against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in key nations.
