New Delhi, July 20 (NationPress) The budget airline IndiGo has officially commenced its operations from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, marking it as the second airport in the National Capital Region following Delhi. The airline has introduced direct flights to nine prominent cities.
According to IndiGo, direct flights are now available from Hindon to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Varanasi.
This initiative greatly enhances travel convenience for countless residents in Ghaziabad, Noida, East and Central Delhi, and various regions of Western Uttar Pradesh, as stated by the airline.
During the launch event at Hindon Airport, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu expressed, “We are dedicated to improving aviation infrastructure across India to facilitate seamless and convenient connections between even the smallest towns and major cities and metros.”
He further noted, “Hindon Airport, developed under the UDAN Scheme, provides significant convenience for those residing in Ghaziabad, Noida, and Western UP. With the increasing connectivity and passenger numbers at Hindon, we are actively pursuing the expansion of the terminal building.”
The Civil Aviation Minister regarded the beginning of IndiGo’s operations at Hindon Airport as a crucial milestone in advancing regional connectivity and bolstering Indian aviation infrastructure.
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, stated, “The initiation of services from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad makes it our second airport in the National Capital Region, featuring nearly 70 weekly departures. Our goal is to improve point-to-point travel for customers in the area, providing them with an airport option closer to home.”
