New Delhi, Sep 8 (NationPress) Kim Reynolds, the Governor of Iowa, met with External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar on Monday to advance the economic and trade relationship between India and the United States.
Leading a delegation, Reynolds embarked on an eight-day trade mission to India over the weekend, intending to enhance connections and investigate potential growth avenues.
“Had a productive meeting with Governor Iowa @KimReynoldsIA in New Delhi today, where we explored the potential of India-US economic ties,” shared EAM Jaishankar on X.
The Iowa delegation includes notable figures such as Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Mike Naig, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, along with various agricultural and business leaders.
According to a press release from Reynolds’ office, the objective of her return to India is to build upon relationships established during her previous visit last year, aiming to explore further growth opportunities within one of the world's largest emerging economies.
Reynolds highlighted the mission's aim to strengthen ties initiated during her 2024 visit.
“Our previous trip to India laid the foundation for numerous relationships between Iowa and Indian businesses and trade groups, facilitating discussions on investments in Iowa and ensuring market access for specific Iowa agricultural products,” stated Reynolds. “I am eager to solidify these connections and forge new partnerships.”
In Delhi, Reynolds and Secretary Naig were scheduled to present at DialogueNEXT, a symposium organized by the World Food Prize Foundation.
Governor Reynolds and her team were anticipated to participate in a business panel hosted by the Sehgal Foundation, known for its contributions to economic and educational advancement in rural India, sign a partner state agreement with Maharashtra, and engage in roundtable discussions with the US-India Business Council, the US Soybean Export Council, and the US Grains Council, while also meeting with Indian industry leaders.
Additionally, she was set to meet representatives from the US Embassy and US Consulate in Mumbai, along with senior Indian government officials, as per the statement.
