Kolkata, March 18 (NationPress) — On Wednesday, the West Bengal government appointed new roles for 19 IPS officers who had previously been dismissed by the Election Commission. A senior official from the state secretariat, Nabanna, confirmed these new assignments.
The state administration released an official directive, adhering to the Election Commission's stipulation that these officers cannot be reinstated in any roles connected to the upcoming Assembly elections.
Among the changes, Indira Mukherjee, who was serving as the Deputy Commissioner (Central) of Kolkata Police, has been reassigned as a Special Superintendent (SS) in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the State Police.
Rajiv Mishra, previously the Additional Director General (ADG) for South Bengal, will now take on the role of ADG (Reform and Coordination).
Praveen Kumar Tripathi, formerly the Police Commissioner of Barrackpore, has been designated as the Inspector General (IG) of the State Police's Special Task Force (STF).
Sunil Kumar Choudhary, who was the Police Commissioner for Asansol-Durgapur, has been reinstated to the same position.
