ISKCON's Radharaman and Mahant Raju Das Voice Alarm Over Postponed Bail Hearing for Monk in Dhaka

New Delhi, Dec 3 (NationPress) With the bail hearing of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the Hindu priest apprehended in Bangladesh, postponed until next month, Hindu leaders in India, such as ISKCON Kolkata's vice-president Radharaman Das and Mahant Raju Das, the priest from Ayodhya’s Hanumangarhi temple, shared their worries on Tuesday.

The delay comes amidst alarming reports indicating that the lawyer representing the Hindu monk was 'brutally attacked' by Islamic extremists and has since been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

In a conversation with IANS, Radharaman Das expressed significant concern regarding the delay and the situation surrounding the case.

“It is incredibly sorrowful to see a monk suffering in jail for the past 9-10 days, and today we had anticipated his bail, but it appears further away than ever,” he stated.

“We’ve also learned through the media that their lawyer was unable to attend court. There have been false allegations against lawyers in previous hearings, with reports of their homes being vandalized. Who will now advocate for Chinmoy Krishna Das? This entire situation is profoundly distressing. It remains uncertain when he will achieve justice, and the thought of him remaining in jail for another month is alarming. It is deeply troubling to confine a seer alongside criminals in such an unjust environment.”

Mahant Raju Das from the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya also denounced the current situation, emphasizing the escalating persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.

“It is widely acknowledged that Hindus in Bangladesh are enduring severe violence – murders, rapes, and the destruction of temples are widespread. Saints and sages are being detained under false pretenses. The scenario has escalated to such an extent that Islamic jihadists and terrorists are perpetrating heinous acts daily. The army and police are colluding, harassing Hindus and framing them in false cases,” he remarked.

“There is no entity to safeguard or deliver justice to the Hindu community in Bangladesh,” he lamented.

On Tuesday, lawyers declined to represent Chinmoy Krishna Das during the bail hearing, resulting in the Chattogram court adjourning the proceedings. The court set the next hearing date for January 2, 2025.

In the meantime, the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote has asserted that about 70 Hindu lawyers were 'falsely sued' in a case to obstruct their involvement in the bail hearing for Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.

There have been over 2,000 documented incidents of violence against Hindus and other minorities such as Christians and Buddhists in Bangladesh, with at least nine minority individuals reported dead thus far.
