It’s Crucial for Hindus to Stand Together, Regardless of Political Views: Bengal LoP

Kolkata, Dec 3 (NationPress) In view of the ongoing turmoil in Bangladesh, where attacks and violence against minority Hindus have sadly become frequent, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, made a call for unity among all Hindus.
“There are ongoing human rights abuses in that region. Members of organizations such as the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, who are located globally, should strongly protest against the detention of ISKCON monks in Bangladesh. Reports indicate that even the attorneys representing these monks are facing severe threats. Thus, it is imperative that Hindus unite, regardless of their personal political ideologies,” the LoP stated during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
He noted that a group more dangerous than terrorist organizations like the Islamic State, Taliban, or Hamas is operating in Bangladesh, orchestrating these violent episodes.
This statement from the LoP coincided with a significant setback for Chinmoy Krishna Das, the ISKCON monk from Bangladesh accused of sedition, as lawyers withdrew from his bail hearing on Tuesday, prompting the Chattogram court to postpone the proceedings until January 2.
Das, affectionately called Chinmoy Prabhu and known as the spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote, was apprehended at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while heading to Chattogram to participate in a rally. He was denied bail and has been incarcerated since last week.
Expressing his distress over these developments, Radharaman Das, the Vice President and spokesperson of ISKCON Kolkata, stated that it is deeply unfortunate to see a monk imprisoned for nearly ten days.
“We have also learned through media reports that their lawyer was unable to appear in court. Previous hearings have seen false charges brought against lawyers, leading to property damage at their homes. Who will step up to defend Chinmoy Krishna Das now? This entire scenario is extremely concerning. The uncertainty of when he will achieve justice, coupled with the distressing thought of him spending another month in jail, is alarming. It is profoundly troubling to keep a spiritual leader alongside criminals in such an unjust environment,” he remarked to IANS.
