International Peace Organizations Overlook Suffering of Hindus in Bangladesh

Kolkata, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Kolkata branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has on Sunday criticized global peace organizations for their lack of response to the violence and discrimination faced by the Hindu minority in Bangladesh.
ISKCON Kolkata's vice-president and spokesperson Radharaman Das compared the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh to that of Draupadi from the Mahabharata, who sought assistance from Lord Krishna when her family was unable to protect her from dishonor.
“Much like Draupadi, the minority Hindus in Bangladesh have been appealing to the United Nations and other international human rights bodies for aid. However, there has been a conspicuous absence of support. Consequently, ISKCON devotees around the globe have gathered in 850 temples across various nations to pray to Lord Krishna for the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh,” Das stated in an interview with IANS.
Pritam Saha, an ISKCON Kolkata devotee, expressed his desire for the Indian government to take immediate action and exert pressure on the current interim government of Bangladesh, which he claims has been influenced by extremist groups.
“Fundamentalists are operating freely there, engaging in actions without any oversight. The Bangladesh government is apprehending Hindu monks and has taken no measures against the attacks on Hindu temples. Disrespect towards the Indian Tricolor is also occurring. Advisors to the Bangladesh government are inciting these fundamentalist groups,” Saha alleged.
He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to release a firm statement addressing this crisis.
On Saturday evening, Das reported the recent arrest of another ISKCON monk in Bangladesh.
He mentioned that the monk arrested was Shyam Das, who had gone to visit Chinmoy Krishna Das, a monk and spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote, who had been detained earlier in the week by the police.
According to Radharaman Das, the police in Bangladesh also took Shyam Das into custody.
