Amaravati, March 27 (NationPress) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticized the NDA government for the demolition of the Kasinayana Jyothi Kshetram in the Badvel constituency of Kadapa district.

He stated that the destruction of the well-known Kasinayana temple, along with the attacks on temples and Hinduism in the state following the rise of the coalition government, highlights the reality of who truly protects Hindu dharma.

Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his concerns on ‘X’ on Thursday, targeting the TDP-led coalition government over the demolition.

He pointed out that although the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests issued directives on August 7, 2023, to halt constructions at the Kasinayana Jyothi Kshetram situated in a forested area, the YSRCP government took proactive measures to safeguard it.

He recalled that on August 18, 2023, while serving as Chief Minister, he had written to then Union Forest Minister Bhupendra Yadav, requesting the 12.98 hectares of land housing the Kasinayana Jyothi Kshetram be excluded from Forest Department jurisdiction and reserved for the temple, ensuring compliance with any compensation or restrictions.

“Thanks to our efforts, the Center ceased its actions. Throughout our five-year term, no one acted against the Kasinayana Jyothi Kshetram. This underscores our commitment to protecting temples and spiritual sites,” he posted.

The YSRCP Chief declared that merely six months after the coalition's ascension to power, under the direction of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the watch of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, bulldozers destroyed a revered temple.

He described the demolition as a “barbaric assault” on Hindu Dharma, instigated by an ‘arrogant’ government. The former Chief Minister shared the letter he had sent to the Center and the current government's demolition orders, challenging the coalition to respond to what he termed undeniable evidence.

Y.S. Jagan accused the coalition of hypocrisy, asserting that they had issued demolition orders only to fabricate narratives to justify them.

“A self-proclaimed advocate of Sanatana Dharma has remained silent about demolitions happening within his own department. Does he have any authority to speak on Hindu Dharma?” questioned Jagan Mohan Reddy, taking a jab at Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who oversees the Forest Department.

Furthermore, the former Chief Minister cited additional controversies during the current regime, such as the Tirumala laddu propaganda and the Tirumala stampede, as further proof of their assaults on Hindu dharma.
