Jaipur, July 28 (NationPress) The Jaipur district administration has set an unprecedented milestone by planting over 42 lakh saplings in just one day to celebrate Hariyali Teej. Under the Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan, Jaipur not only achieved but exceeded its target of 21 lakh plantations, leading all 41 districts in the state.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated the 76th Van Mahotsav by planting a sapling at Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University in Madau, Jaipur.
This initiative was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, effectively turning the plantation drive into a widespread social movement.
Under District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni’s guidance, the plantation drive was carried out on a mission basis in Jaipur.
Deputy Forest Conservator V. Ketan Kumar reported that a total of 42,02,139 saplings were planted in the district, thanks to a well-structured action plan and continuous oversight.
The initiative showcased remarkable collaboration and healthy competition among government departments, agencies, and local bodies.
Public involvement transformed Van Mahotsav into a Jan Mahotsav, with enthusiastic locals participating, particularly in areas like Madhorajpura, where residents celebrated with lively folk music.
The Education Department spearheaded the effort, planting 14,58,454 saplings. Other significant contributors included the Forest Department (2,55,218), Pollution Control Board (5,02,229), MNREGA (6,38,973), Local Self Government Department (2,90,928), and both Jaipur Heritage and Greater Municipal Corporations (2,07,217 and 1,05,635 respectively).
Numerous other departments such as Agriculture, Labor, Police, Medical and Health, PWD, Revenue, Panchayati Raj, and Urban Development also made noteworthy contributions, demonstrating Jaipur's collective effort towards environmental preservation. This record-breaking achievement has paved the way for a greener and more sustainable Jaipur.
Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan was launched last year on August 7 in conjunction with Hariyali Teej.
The initiative aims to enhance Rajasthan's greenery, improving the state’s environmental health and overall prosperity.
