What Advisory Has the Jaipur Traffic Police Issued for New Year Celebrations?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Dec 31 (NationPress) As extensive New Year’s Eve festivities are set to take place throughout hotels, restaurants, clubs, and farmhouses in Jaipur on Wednesday, the Jaipur Traffic Police have rolled out a comprehensive advisory aimed at promoting road safety and ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow in the city.
The police have observed that on New Year’s Eve, particularly among younger drivers, there is a notable increase in incidents of drunk driving, overspeeding, and careless driving without necessary safety gear such as helmets or seat belts, resulting in severe accidents and traffic disruption. To combat these issues, specialized teams equipped with breath analyzers will be stationed at crucial points around the city. Drivers caught under the influence of alcohol will face penalties as per the Motor Vehicles Act.
Moreover, the Traffic Police will advocate for the suspension of driving licenses to the Transport Department. Residents are strongly urged to refrain from driving after consuming alcohol and instead opt for taxis or appoint a designated driver. The Traffic Police further cautioned that motorists found driving impaired could also be detained under the Rajasthan Police Act. Drivers are advised against keeping vehicle boots open, allowing passengers in the boot, or playing loud music while driving.
Event organizers and attendees have been instructed to park vehicles only in specified parking zones.
To maintain smooth traffic, signals at major intersections, such as New Gate Circle and Ramniwas Bagh Circle, will operate until 2:00 a.m. Given the expected heavy traffic, entry of large vehicles into the city may be restricted as necessary until 2:00 a.m. Should traffic congestion escalate, a one-way traffic system may be enforced around the Gaurav Tower vicinity.
The Jaipur Traffic Police have established special traffic protocols in the Walled City and Amer areas starting from December 27, which will remain in effect until January 4.
These initiatives are designed to manage heavy traffic congestion on major thoroughfares, heritage sites, religious locations, and bustling markets as a significant influx of domestic and international tourists is anticipated. Slow-moving and light cargo vehicles will not be permitted in the Walled City between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Tourist buses will enter through Sanganeri Gate and exit via Ramgarh Mor. In the event of increased traffic, buses will be redirected to alternate paths, and road medians may be closed.
From December 27 to January 4, e-rickshaws and unauthorized vehicles are prohibited in the Chardiwari and Amer areas, though emergency vehicles will be exempted.
