Jammu & Kashmir: Teenager from PoK Repatriated After Unintentional LoC Crossing

Jammu, December 16 (NationPress) A young boy from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was sent back home after six days on Monday, having crossed the Line of Control (LoC) accidentally in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, the teenager, named Saliq Hussain, son of Khalid Hussain from Bandi Abasspur, crossed the LoC on December 11 and was promptly detained by the army.

“Upon interrogation, it was discovered that he had lost his way, leading to his crossing of the LoC. The Indian Army swiftly contacted their Pakistani counterparts, and Saliq was returned to them at the Chakan Da Bagh crossing in Poonch district this evening after fulfilling all necessary protocols,” officials stated.

At 5 PM today, the gate at the Chakan Da Bagh LoC crossing was opened for 25 minutes to facilitate the teenager’s return, added an official.

The army has increased surveillance along the LoC following reports from intelligence agencies indicating that terrorists are poised at launch pads across the LoC, ready to infiltrate the Indian territory before the mountain passes close due to seasonal snowfall.

Security forces and police are operating in complete coordination to ensure the elimination of terrorists before they can cause significant security issues.

Following the successful conduct of Lok Sabha and legislative assembly elections in J&K, intelligence agencies believe that terror handlers from across the border have grown anxious and have instructed terrorists to make a final attempt to revive dwindling terrorism in the region.

In recent times, terrorists have executed several heinous attacks on civilians, police, security personnel, and the army in the wake of the peaceful elections in J&K.

The Lieutenant Governor also led a high-level security review meeting in response to the terrorist incidents in J&K, directing security forces to target terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers to dismantle the terror ecosystem in J&K.
