Bhagalpur (Bihar), April 3 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK), a program initiated by the Narendra Modi government, is swiftly becoming a symbol of optimism for the individuals in Bihar's Bhagalpur. At present, over two dozen Jan Aushadhi Kendras are functioning in 16 blocks within the district.
The significant turnout of beneficiaries at the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras located in JLN Hospital, Mayaganj, and the Sadar Hospital's Bhagalpur Campus reflects the scheme's immense value to the community.
IANS engaged with various beneficiaries of PMBJK to gather insights about their experiences.
Dilip Bhagat, who journeyed 10 km from Nathnagar for medication, shared his appreciation, stating: "PM Narendra Modi deserves commendation for this initiative. The medicines I procure from this Jan Aushadhi Kendra are more beneficial for my health compared to those I previously purchased. I urge the government to establish more of these Kendras across different regions of Bihar. The medicines are available at remarkably low prices, and I want to express my gratitude to PM Modi for this."
Suraj, hailing from Purnia, traveled 100 km to Bhagalpur to obtain medication for his father.
"The medication priced at Rs 1,000 in the market is available for merely Rs 200 at the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra. It’s considerably more affordable, and I am thankful to PM Modi for this," he mentioned.
Launched in November 2008 by the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Union Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilisers, the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana aims to provide quality generic medicines at reasonable prices for everyone.
This initiative establishes dedicated outlets known as Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras to offer generic medicines at economical rates.
In honor of this scheme, March 7 is recognized as ‘Jan Aushadhi Diwas’ to promote awareness and encourage the use of generic medicines.
