Jan Suraaj Party Representatives Confer with Bihar's Chief Secretary Regarding BPSC Protests

Patna, Jan 9 (NationPress) A team from the Jan Suraaj Party, headed by its acting president Manoj Bharti, met with Bihar's Chief Secretary, Amrit Lal Meena, on Wednesday to deliver a memorandum containing five critical demands regarding the ongoing Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) protests and the irregularities surrounding competitive examinations.

The team included notable party figures such as MLC Afaque Ahmed, former MP Sitaram Yadav, former MLA Kishore Kumar, retired officer Arvind Thakur, Lalan Yadav, and N.K. Mandal.

They highlighted the worsening health condition of Jan Suraaj Party Chief Prashant Kishor, who is currently on a hunger strike and has been admitted to the ICU of a hospital in the state.

The delegation urged the state government to act swiftly on the demands presented to enable Kishor to contemplate ending his hunger strike.

The memorandum outlined the Jan Suraaj Party's requests for an independent investigation into the alleged irregularities and corruption in the 70th BPSC Preliminary examination, a re-examination, the fulfillment of the unemployment allowance pledged under the 'Saat Nischay' programme (initiated in 2015) for youth aged 18 to 35, a white paper on examination irregularities, a comprehensive report on irregularities, paper leaks, and actions taken over the last decade regarding competitive examinations in Bihar, punitive measures against officials responsible for the misuse of force, which has turned Bihar into a 'lathi-tantra' (rule by baton), compromising democratic principles, and the introduction of a domicile policy to secure that at least two-thirds of government job positions are reserved for Bihar's youth.

After the meeting, Bharti stated, "The government must take immediate steps to address the demands of the students and youth of Bihar. If these demands are seriously considered, Prashant Kishor might decide to end his hunger strike."

He further added, "We have requested the Chief Secretary to facilitate a meeting between the delegation and the Chief Minister, as this could hasten the resolution of the issues raised."

In response to criticism and political allegations, Bharti remarked, "Rather than engaging in accusations and counter-accusations, the government and other political parties should concentrate on constructive actions. We are dedicated to a peaceful satyagraha, and our efforts are focused on the welfare of the youth and students."
