Step Beyond Comfort Zones: Kishor Urges Leaders to Mobilize BPSC Aspirants' Protest

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, currently engaged in a hunger strike supporting the aspirants of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) preliminary examination, has criticized political leaders for their inaction and urged them to emerge from their comfort zones to lead the grassroots movement.

During a press conference held amidst his hunger strike, Kishor stated, “All these leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi, who claim to advocate for students and wish to represent their interests, should come here, join the protest, and lead from the front. We are ready to follow them. We have no issue stepping back, but someone needs to step forward. Rahul Gandhi should come here and spearhead this movement.”

“However, he is currently enjoying a vacation for the New Year celebrations. He’ll need to cut his holiday short and return. When was the last time he visited Bihar? Probably during election time to solicit votes. When can we expect his next visit? Likely during the next elections to ask for votes again. If you don’t show up in Bihar, how can you lead?” he further commented.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi's absence, Kishor humorously added, “Should the students here send him an invitation to Vietnam? This movement cannot thrive on mere social media posts.”

“If Tejashwi Yadav wishes to lead, he must exit his bungalow and stand alongside us. We are prepared to support him as well. However, true leadership demands stepping out. We are right here, risking our lives for this cause,” he asserted.

Kishor emphasized the dedication of those protesting in the harsh winter, stating, “We have forsaken our homes, families, food, and comfort to sit under the open sky in this cold. Why? For the students of Bihar. It’s disheartening that some fail to grasp the urgency of this issue and trivialize youth movements.”

He condemned the police's actions against the protesters, stating, “In this biting cold, Bihar’s students were drenched with cold water and assaulted with batons. The police mercilessly chased down both boys and girls. Meanwhile, over 50 lakh people in Bihar are struggling on the streets, in factories, and in fields just to make ends meet. If we aim to change this system, someone must prioritize the cause over personal comfort, be it in the cold or heat. That’s why we’re here.”

Kishor concluded with a strong call to action, highlighting the pressing need for leadership: “This struggle is not only for today but for the future of Bihar’s youth. The younger generation must rise and take charge. We are ready to support anyone willing to step up.”

Kishor has been conducting his hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

His protest seeks the cancellation of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) preliminary examination due to allegations of irregularities and a paper leak.
