Jammu, March 6 (NationPress) The Director General of Police (DGP) of J&K, Nalin Prabhat, announced on Thursday that he has reduced his personal security by two-thirds as part of an initiative aimed at optimizing manpower.
Emphasizing that charity begins at home, the DGP shared with reporters during a 'Thana Diwas' meeting that this significant reduction in his security detail is a key component of the broader manpower optimization strategy.
He highlighted the importance of better resource allocation, police incentives, and the integration of technology to boost the efficiency of police operations throughout the Union Territory.
Pointing out that Rome wasn’t built in a day, he remarked, "All battles will eventually be won. From the very first meeting, I have maintained that those who perform well will receive commendable postings. I have urged everyone to make a significant contribution to the nation, and within moments, the posting they desire will be granted."
He disclosed that narcotics are entering J&K through the western border, stating, "The entire drug trafficking network is orchestrated by the Pakistan Army and ISI through various terrorist organizations and smugglers. This poses a serious challenge, and the J&K Police will continue to combat it until we triumph in the war against drugs. I equate the fight against drugs to the fight against terrorism; both battles are ongoing," he asserted.
The police chief expressed his worry regarding school-aged children becoming involved in the drug trade, emphasizing that it is the responsibility of parents to monitor their children's activities.
In two high-level security review meetings concerning J&K last month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah issued explicit directives to security forces to achieve zero infiltration and maintain a stance of zero tolerance against terrorists.
These meetings were succeeded by two further security reviews led by J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, who instructed police and security forces to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem by targeting terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.
