Jammu, March 18 (NationPress) The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, announced on Tuesday that the J&K Police has adapted its counter-terrorism strategies by venturing into dense forests and rugged mountainous areas to eliminate terrorist threats.

While speaking at the passing-out ceremony of new police constables at the STC Talwara in Reasi district, DGP Prabhat emphasized that the police force has modified its operational approach, now actively conducting missions in remote forests and mountainous terrains to target terrorists impacting the region.

“In the last two years, the J&K Police has revamped its operational tactics and heightened efforts in secluded forests and mountains where terrorists have attempted to regroup. The confrontation has now transitioned to these jungle areas and higher elevations. We are advancing into these zones to locate and dismantle their hideouts,” the police chief stated.

He noted that the J&K Police is currently engaged in operations against terrorists in the forests of Udhampur and Kathua districts, aimed at countering threats posed by our “malevolent neighbor (Pakistan).”

“We are determined to thwart their malicious intentions,” he affirmed.

Reflecting on last year’s ‘Operation Mahadev’, DGP Prabhat revealed that security forces successfully neutralized three Pakistani terrorists during this operation.

“These terrorists were implicated in the deaths of 26 civilians in the Baisaran (Pahalgam) area. Our police pursued them deep into the forest before neutralizing the threat,” he explained.

The J&K Police Chief also underscored the importance of community outreach programs and the force's engagement with local populations across the Union Territory.

He extended his congratulations to the newly recruited members of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, urging them to remain dedicated to their roles. He acknowledged that the road ahead would present challenges but expressed strong confidence that these new personnel would play a pivotal role in ensuring peace and security in the area.

The DGP is recognized for spearheading aggressive anti-terror operations, often taking a frontline role in the efforts of the J&K Police.
