Patna, March 5 (NationPress) While senior leaders of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) seemed to back Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's choice to join the Rajya Sabha, a wave of strong discontent surged among party workers throughout Patna on Thursday.

Demonstrations erupted, stretching from the residence of the Chief Minister to the state party office, where JD-U members not only shouted slogans but also caused damage to furniture and other belongings on site.

Furious JD-U activists voiced their dissent against prominent party figures, including Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, JD-U Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha, and Bihar Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Ashok Choudhary.

The activists accused these senior leaders of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to undermine the JD-U and oust Nitish Kumar from his Chief Minister role.

The situation intensified when JD-U Legislative Council member Sanjay Gandhi was reportedly assaulted by protesting party workers at the party office.

Sources revealed that Sanjay Gandhi was momentarily blocked from leaving the party office amidst the ongoing protests before he finally exited through the main entrance.

Numerous JD-U members asserted that Nitish Kumar's decision to move to the Rajya Sabha was not a voluntary act but part of a broader political scheme intended to facilitate a BJP leader's ascent to the Chief Minister position in Bihar.

Nitish Kumar submitted his Rajya Sabha nomination earlier on Thursday, accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, indicating a potential leadership shift in Bihar.

The possibility of a BJP Chief Minister taking charge in Bihar has reportedly heightened dissatisfaction among segments of JD-U supporters.

Anil Kumar, Nitish Kumar's brother-in-law, also voiced his discontent regarding the situation. He remarked that a Bihar without Nitish Kumar would be "like a widow," and stated that sending the Chief Minister to the Rajya Sabha in the midst of his term was inappropriate.

He stressed that the contributions made by Nitish Kumar for Bihar should not be overlooked.

Significant political reactions have also surfaced from Nitish Kumar's hometown, Kalyan Bigha. Residents expressed frustration over the Chief Minister's shift to national politics, declaring that Bihar has not seen a better political leader.

Some villagers raised concerns regarding the future of liquor prohibition laws and overall law and order in the state.

Additionally, there were allegations from certain residents claiming that Nitish Kumar's move to the Rajya Sabha was "politically motivated."

Police forces have been stationed in the area as a precautionary measure.

While a few villagers showed support for the potential political entry of Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar, they were reportedly against the Chief Minister stepping down from Bihar's leadership.

Outside the Chief Minister's residence, emotional moments unfolded as numerous JD-U workers displayed their sorrow and anger.

Some even threatened drastic actions, including self-immolation, which prompted increased security measures.

Political analysts suggest that this situation has the potential to considerably alter Bihar's political landscape and generate new tensions within the ruling NDA coalition.

As Nitish Kumar gears up for his transition to the Rajya Sabha, the upcoming days are anticipated to be pivotal for both the JD-U and the broader NDA coalition in Bihar.
